Police Shoot Man Wielding a Knife at Offices and Others

Here is video of a man that was on the corner smoking marijuana and confronted by police. Instead of extinguishing the illicit illegal narcotic, albeit marijuana, the man pulled out an 11″ knife and started lunging towards officers. As officers began pursuing the subject on foot, the man started running down the street waving the knife at unsuspecting people at random. Acting swiftly, officers enclosed him and shot him to stop the threat the man created to the people at large. Instead of honoring these brave men, criticism is beginning to attach itself to the officers actions as if some in society want officers to risk their lives against a knife to subdue an offender threatening the public. This makes no sense, a person (an average person) can close the distance with a knife in 21 feet before a trained officer can draw and fire accurately. Are these “critics” suggesting that the police had another option to protect the public?

I am really looking forward to your feedback. This many not be an active-shooter topic although people were present in the form of a crown when police opened fire to protect the public. Please reply and pass this around, I am interested in the officers and non-officers opinions of what you think about the criticism the officers are drawing. If you think they did the right thing completely, as I do, please say so. Lets support those who defend us daily. Here is a story (http://www.policeone.com/edged-weapons/articles/5909334-Police-shoot-kill-man-near-NYC-Times-Square/) that tilts the rhetoric in the offenders favor and yet still, the police acted more than appropriate with much restraint while even trying other tactics and still made the best decision. This has nothing to do with the man being killed dead, instead the story is that the threat was stopped expeditiously… Here is the video…
